Heavenly Perspectives

The topic of seeing from a heavenly place has been on my mind. I woke from a dream this morning with this very scenario playing out.

Ephesians 2:6 says that we were raised and seated with Christ.

The text says;

Ephesians 2:5-8 NASBS

“…even when we were dead in our transgressions, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), [6] and raised us up with Him, and seated us with Him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, [7] so that in the ages to come He might show the surpassing riches of His grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. [8] For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God;”

That word ‘seated’ is mentioned in Ephesians 2:6 and again in Colossians 3:1. In the Greek ‘seated’ means to give or take a seat of company with; to make to sit down together in a place.

Particularly in Colossians it is kathēmai - a verb;

And means to sit down; figuratively to remain reside: - dwell sit— to sit, be seated, of a place occupied to have a fixed abode, to dwell.

That definition spurred on the thought of another scripture — Psalm 91.

Psalm 91:1 NASBS

He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High Will abide in the shadow of the Almighty.

The word dwell (in Hebrew yâshab) is the same word in the context of the scripture and means to sit down — specifically as judge.

I can hear some of you saying, “Woah…wait a minute Dionne! But we aren’t supposed to judge… are we? God is the only judge.”

Well, if we are seated and dwelling in Christ in heavenly places at the right hand of the Father, on his throne, then we are seated with Him as judge. He has given us all authority on behalf of Him, and in Him name.

A simplified definition for ‘judge’ is basically one who discerns, knows, and comes to a rightful conclusion, rendering a verdict according to the righteousness and the justice of God — His moral and spiritual laws.

We are not only seated with Him and in Him — we are given permission to make rightful decisions and judgments from that seat in heavenly places.

So, if Christ is seated in heavenly places, ruling and reigning on His throne at the right hand of the Father, then we too are seated in Him and with Him in that place.

It means we have been given permission and access to ALL He has.

We have been given everything we need for life and godliness. We have been blessed with every spiritual blessing in the heavenlies. (2 Peter 1:3; Ephesians 1:3).

We have the authority to rule and reign with Him.

We have permission to SEE from Heaven.

Since we are seated in an “elevated” heavenly place we should have the perspective He has. We should have the wisdom, strategy, and solutions of heaven.

We should be able to see the bigger picture to things.

Picture this.

You’re sitting in a chair that is on the bottom level of a building. The building has high ceilings. There’s even some nice big picture windows on the bottom floor, letting in natural light.

There’s a crowd of people standing around you and there is a lot of noise because of the people talking.

You’re seated but you can only look up.

You’re looking up as far as you can see or as high as your neck will allow.

Because of the crowd around you you’re really only able to see the ceiling and maybe how far it expands to the right or the left. Because of the crowd of people around you, you cannot even see the windows, but you may see the light that the windows are letting in.

Your only perspective is up because you were seated on the ground.

NOW picture yourself seated on the highest level of this building inside the area where you were sitting on the ground. Picture yourself sitting there with Jesus—ELEVATED.

You are at an elevated location.

The picture windows letting in the natural light are still there. The crowd of people and noise are still there below.

But you are in a different location—ELEVATED.

As you look down, you can see all the people, all the windows and the light, and you can see the full expanse of the level you are on and the level below far and wide. You can even see out the windows to the outside and beyond.

You can see the entrances and exits.

And so much more.

Which view would you rather have?

Agreeing that we are seated with Christ in heavenly places seems hard to understand at times. Especially when all we are surrounded by on the ground is noise, people and whatever is right in front of us. It is a person‘s natural response “to look up”. That almost even seems like the holy thing to do.

But the reality is, in Christ and according to scripture, we have been raised and seated in an elevated location as kingdom people to live from heaven, not from ground looking up.

Christ was on the Earth.

Humans walk the Earth.

Jesus walked among people, but then he ascended.

He is no longer here. He lives in and through us by the power of the Holy Spirit.

When we were born again and brought into the kingdom of light, we were no longer just simply carnal humans. We were recreated NEW again, SPIRIT beings of Heaven— ambassadors of God’s kingdom.

Yes, we are on this earth, still humans, but we are new in Christ. We have and are the source from an “elevated and expansive” Kingdom that has no end. We have what the world needs but if we don’t know where we are seated, or even have to access those things, we cannot bring the solutions to the world.

He has given us a great inheritance—to sit with Him, to rule and reign with Him from heavenly places.

I encourage you to rise and take your seat to see and rule from heavenly places.

And the next time you wanna talk to the Father, maybe don’t look up. Instead turn your ear to left because the Father is seated there.

We are seated and dwell with Christ in heavenly places at the right hand of the Father.

Colossians 3:1-3 NASBS

Therefore if you have been raised up with Christ, keep seeking the things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. [2] Set your mind on the things above, not on the things that are on earth. [3] For you have died and your life is hidden with Christ in God.

Blessings
